We seek to offer an eclectic mix of interesting, high quality, reasonably priced products that stand out in the market. South Moon Under currently operates 27 stores in the mid-Atlantic area, VA, MD, PA, DE, NJ, CT, and GA in addition to an E-commerce site. Our home base is located in Annapolis, MD.

Social Media Assistant

 

Do you have a passion for social media and a love for fashion?  Are you looking to bring your hardworking, competitive attitude to a growing company?  South Moon Under is looking for a Social Media Assistant to develop and execute social media content across all channels to drive organic reach and customer engagement.  You will also develop analysis of social media performance and identify recommendations for future optimization and assist the marketing manager in developing and executing social media influencer programs.

Responsibilities:

  • Write copy, curate content and partner with creative team to develop content for all social media channels with a focus on Instagram, Pinterest and Facebook.  Assist in creating content as needed.
  • Manage the planning and editing of social content, interacting with users, answering any questions and engaging in discussion when appropriate. 
  • Develop and manage social media and blog content calendar across all platforms with authentic, relevant themes 
  • Develop and communicate weekly and monthly social media analysis along with recommendations for improved future performance.  Continually learn the best ways to optimize our content and grow our channels.
  • Identify opportunities for storytelling on social and blog within marketing campaigns and real time events
  • Stay abreast of marketing strategy, product and promotions to ensure social media channels are aligned
  • Assist in creating content and writing stories for the southmoonunder blog
  • Assist in developing and executing social media influencer partnerships
  • Assist in developing plans to achieve social media follower growth
  • Demonstrate curiosity in fashion, retail and social media, stay up-to-date with competitive space to identify opportunities 

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Marketing, English or Journalism or similar field preferred

Experience:  6 mos – 2 years years experience

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

  • Deep familiarity and passion for social media channels
  • A love of fashion and style
  • Experience writing/self-editing highly engaging grammatically correct statuses, captions, etc.
  • Discerning eye for photo editing and cropping

Marketing Assistant

 

Do you have a minimum of 1 year of experience planning and executing events and coordinating marketing activities?  Are you looking to bring your hardworking, competitive attitude to a growing company?  South Moon Under is looking for a Marketing Assistant to develop and execute our retail marketing programs to build brand awareness, sales, traffic and new customer acquisition including store events, store openings and mall marketing.  In addition the Marketing Assistant will partner with our Marketing Manager to create, execute and analyze seasonal marketing plans. Working at South Moon Under you will find a collaborative, challenging, flexible work environment with talented people whose priority is providing our customer with an exciting selection of merchandise.

RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Develop and execute in store & off site event strategy to drive brand awareness, new customer acquisition and sales and traffic. Manage & plan all event logistics, collaborating with store operations and staff, develop a promotion/advertising/PR strategy for events and work with creative/visual/merchants teams on event collateral, marketing and visual display. Develop event recaps and analysis associated with events and make ongoing recommendations for improved future performance.
  • Own relationship with mall marketing teams to ensure maximum participation in all relevant on site events & promotions and collaborate to ensure marketing messages and content are being cross-promoted via mall websites, emails, social etc.
  • Assist in developing and implementing store opening marketing plans including but not limited to advertising, direct mail, mall marketing, events and PR to drive increased brand awareness and long term traffic & sales.
  • Oversee digital presence of stores across southmoonunder website, google places, yelp and others as needed to ensure accurate and updated information
  • Assist marketing manager in the creation of seasonal marketing plans and collaborate with marketing manager to develop new opportunities to grow the business.
  • Update marketing & events calendars, weekly conference call notes, manage budget for respective areas, promo/event/coupon reporting and coordinate and deliver marketing collateral to stores
  • Partner with visual marketing and creative to execute marketing and promotional instore signage as needed

Education: Bachelor’s Degree

Experience: Minimum of 1  year in marketing and events

Marketing Manager

 

South Moon Under is actively seeking an experienced Marketing Manager to develop and execute yearly and seasonal marketing plans with a focus on advertising, social media and PR that drive brand awareness, traffic and new customer acquisition.  They will create and execute best-in-class social media strategy to increase brand conversation, social footprint and support key marketing messages. 

 

RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Develop and execute seasonal omni-channel marketing plans that meet our objectives of building brand awareness, driving traffic and new customer acquisition while enhancing customer experience.  Consistently measure and report on results. 
  • Develop, manage and implement social strategy across all channels with a focus on Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest and Snapchat, ensuring that content is aspirational, aligned with overall brand messaging and drives engagement and growth.  Partner with creative and head of marketing to curate relevant content.  Plan, set and achieve aggressive growth goals.
  • Manage yearly direct mail plan circulation of 1 million + work with creative team, mail house and printer to ensure all deadlines and budgets are met.   Develop and execute segmentation strategy to achieve maximum ROI.   Analyze mailer performance and identify actionable customer insights to improve future performance.
  • Create and execute yearly regional print, outdoor and digital advertising plan to drive increased brand awareness, sales and traffic throughout the year and at key promotional times.  Manage planning and buying of all media.
  • Develop, manage and implement press strategy and fulfill and manage sample requests as needed.  Create content for press releases and pitch stories to press contacts. Report on monthly, yearly and program press results.
  • Create and execute social influencer strategies and initiatives, develop relationships with bloggers and influencers. 
  • Lead the paid social strategy, defining key objectives/KPIs and overseeing the implementation, optimization and reporting.   
  • Develop blog content strategy to ensure we are hitting key marketing messages at the right time to take advantage of trends and seasonal marketing messages.
  • Oversee store opening marketing, events and retail marketing strategies to ensure stores have the support they need to drive the business
  • Develop and execute customer research efforts and identify key learnings and action plans
  • Manage and track marketing budget and process invoices in timely manner. 
  • Stay informed of all social media innovation and identify and communicate relevant opportunities and trends 
  • Oversee and develop one or two direct reports

 

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

 

Education:           Bachelor’s Degree

Experience:         5+ years of experience including a minimum of two years managing 1 or more direct reports, expertise in copy writing preferred, apparel experience preferred

Graphic Designer

 

South Moon Under is actively seeking an experienced Graphic Designer to design on brand ads, emails, web and social content to support corporate and marketing materials. 

The successful candidate will bring a varied skill set of computer graphic design, drawing, and fine arts.  The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mobile/on line design.  They will create projects from inception to completion and will work independently with all areas of the organization.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Produce high quality and compelling print and digital designs in quick turn-around times.
  • With minimal supervision or guidance, conceptualize and implement designs all the way through from idea to completion.
  • Interact professionally with executives and managers, gaining an understanding of their needs and producing designs that meet and exceed their expectations.
  • Ensure that all materials produced comply with the company's brand guidelines.
  • Manage print vendor relationships.

QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS:

  • BA/BFA in Design or relevant degree preferred.
  • 3-5 years of print and web design experience in mid-level, hands-on, professional environment.
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite. (InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator)
  • Well organized with strong attention to detail and good time management skills.
  • Exceptional communication skills—verbal, written, and interpersonal.
  • Team player that can also work well independently.
  • Must be willing to wear multiple hats and adapt to the ever-changing needs of the brand teams.

  • Create and implement merchandise strategies that support company objectives
  • Build assortments which maintain departmental goals and meet target customer needs

  • Collaborate with product development and design teams on assortment needs

At South Moon Under, members of the management team serve as leaders in their store, coaching and developing the staff to provide an outstanding level of customer service that will, in turn, maximize sales and profits. All of our Assistant Managers must have a complete understanding of the South Moon Under philosophy, aesthetic and customer.
 
The South Moon Under 1st and 2nd Assistants possesses strong leadership skills. They work closely with the sales staff to deliver product knowledge, drive sales and uphold operational standards. They have excellent communication skills and a full understanding of how to motivate people.
