Originating as a small surf shop in 1968, South Moon Under has evolved into a unique, upscale fashion retailer. We seek to offer an eclectic mix of interesting, high quality, reasonably priced products that stand out in the market. South Moon Under currently operates 24 stores in the mid-Atlantic area, VA, MD, PA, DE, NJ and CT in addition to an E-commerce site. Our home base is located in Berlin, MD on the beautiful Eastern Shore.

Location: Corporate Office Studios – Annapolis, MD

 

Job Description:

  • Part-time, flexible hours during weekdays only
  • Typically book for 9am-5pm but hours may vary slightly depending on our needs
  • Located at our corporate office studios in Annapolis, MD (must provide own transportation)
  • Modeling clothing to be photographed and used on our website www.southmoonunder.com and in emails and promotions

Allocator

 

South Moon Under is seeking an Allocator to join its rapidly growing business.

 

At South Moon Under our Allocators will drive and maximize sales and margin through effective allocation of merchandise to our Retail Stores.  They will monitor store level inventories through the proper flow of receipts into the stores.  They will partner with Merchandising, Merchandise Planning and the E-Comm Planning team to ensure that in stock, inventory productivity and assortment business goals are met.

 

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Key Responsibility Area: Execute the allocation strategy from monthly assortment review meetings

 

Key Responsibility Area: Analyze sales trend to ensure that allocation of receipts results in maximum performance by store. Ensure that stores are kept in stock with respect to their ability to sell merchandise

 

Key Responsibility Area: Develop monthly assortment files and allocation strategies

 

Key Responsibility Area: Perform pre-season, in season and post-season analysis to identify future opportunities to maximize sales and margin for stores

 

Key Responsibility Area: Manage the basic stock replenishment programs within the parameters of the company’s target inventory productivity metrics

 

Key Responsibility Area: Perform periodic reviews of store rankings and indices, basic stock replenishment items, existing quantities and models by store, size selling and sizing by store with the Planner to ensure that buy quantities and stock levels meet current sales trends

 

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
Education:  Bachelor’s Degree

Experience:  2 years of prior retail experience as an Allocator preferred but not required.  Store-line work experience a plus.

 

SKILLS:

  • Strong analytical and financial skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of industry practices and current trends
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office

Store Manager - Philadelphia

RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Ensure the highest level of customer service while remaining in line with South Moon Under’s sales philosophy at all times
  • Inspire and encourage store team through a strong store presence and consistently leading by example on floor
  • Coach and develop staff to provide an outstanding level of customer service that will exceed individual and store goals
  • Assist in the creation and maintenance of positive employee relations through building, developing and leading a quality store team
  • Assist with recruitment, hiring and on-boarding of all store positions
  • Achieve all financial and operation objectives
  • Manage all aspects of daily store operational controls
  • Help maintain organization, cleanliness, and restock of store
  • Uphold all company Policy and Procedures
     

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

  • Education:  Associate’s Degree required, Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • Experience:  2-3 years specialty store management experience including: sales, customer service, merchandising, inventory control and loss prevention

 

SKILLS:

  • Proficient use of Microsoft Word and POS Systems
  • Excellent time management, prioritization and organization skills
  • Self-starter
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Ability to train and mentor staff     
  • Ability to multi task and prioritize assignments

Merchants - Womens Apparel, Accessories, and Jewelry

 

RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Create and implement merchandise strategies that support company objectives
  • Build assortments which maintain departmental goals and meet target customer needs
  • Partner with planner to assign product valuations based upon historical data, current trend and future events
  • Work together with planner on forecasting the business financials
  • Collaborate with product development and design teams on assortment needs
  • Work in concert with visual and marketing to insure that the original vision /intent for product is communicated and executed
  • Maintain an on-going development and mentorship of direct reports to ensure effective performance and continued growth, strive to positively lead teams
  • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with internal and external sources
  • Collaborate with store teams to refine knowledge of customer needs
  • Travel as needed

 

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

Education:  Bachelor’s Degree

Experience:  3-5 years in women’s apparel that includes fashion apparel brands and product development

 

SKILLS:

  • Exceptional taste level and strong eye for trend
  • Excellent leadership, organization and time management skills with ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities
  • Ability to lead, develop, coach and build successful team as well as develop functional partnerships across the organization

Sales Associate

At South Moon Under, members of the team create an exciting and inspiring shopping experience for our customers. We utilize product knowledge and selection to provide exceptional service to our customers. In addition, we build sales and provide a store experience that reflects South Moon Under's customer service standards and aesthetic. In addition to selling, our sales associates are expected to execute merchandising tasks, such as stock, re-merchandising, display, price markdowns, and transfers. All members of our store team work together to ensure a clean, pleasant and safe shopping environment for our customers.
 
The ideal candidate will be available to work a flexible schedule based on business needs that include daytime, evening, weekends and holiday shifts. We can provide flexibility in scheduling, a fun exciting environment, and a generous employee discount.

Status: Full-Time and Part-Time Employee

At South Moon Under, members of the management team serve as leaders in their store, coaching and developing the staff to provide an outstanding level of customer service that will, in turn, maximize sales and profits. All of our Assistant Managers must have a complete understanding of the South Moon Under philosophy, aesthetic and customer.
 
The South Moon Under 1st and 2nd Assistants possesses strong leadership skills. They work closely with the sales staff to deliver product knowledge, drive sales and uphold operational standards. They have excellent communication skills and a full understanding of how to motivate people.
 
Successful candidates must be available to work a flexible schedule based on business needs that include daytime, evening, weekends and holiday shifts, as well as having at least one year of retail management experience, preferably in a specialty retail environment.
