Swimwear Care

South Moon Under Swim Knowledge and Care Facts

  • South Moon Under will never carry a bathing suit that cannot be worn in the water. Leather treatments, crochet and other embellishments are always treated and can be worn in either salt water or chlorinated water.
  • Any metal hardware that is on the suits sold at South Moon Under has been treated with nickel and will not heat up from sunlight or body
  • Keep in mind that sun, chlorine, salt water, hot tubs and suntan oils and lotions will put wear on a swimsuit. Suits are made out of lycra and spandex and after awhile, the colors will fade and lycra and spandex starts to break down. Hot tubs, chlorine and salt water speed up the aging process.
  • Sun tan oils and lotions, dirty water, chemicals such as chlorine and hot tubs can turn a suit yellow. This is NOT a manufacturer defect.
  • To prolong the life of your swimsuit, wash it with a mild shampoo or dish soap. DO NOT wash swimwear in the washing machine.
  • To prevent color fading and bleeding soak the swimsuit in 2 teaspoons of white vinegar and 1 quart of water for 15 minutes before wearing the suit.
