Originating as a small surf shop in 1968, South Moon Under has evolved into a unique, upscale fashion retailer. We seek to offer an eclectic mix of interesting, high quality, reasonably priced products that stand out in the market. South Moon Under currently operates 19 stores in the mid-Atlantic area, VA, MD, PA, DE, NJ and NY in addition to an E-commerce site. Our home base is located in Berlin, MD on the beautiful Eastern Shore.

At South Moon Under, members of the management team serve as leaders in their store, coaching and developing the staff to provide an outstanding level of customer service that will, in turn, maximize sales and profits. All of our Assistant Managers must have a complete understanding of the South Moon Under philosophy, aesthetic and customer.

The Divisional merchandise manger is responsible for the merchandise selection & procurement of goods of assigned departments and classifications (Retail & Direct). Required Skills and Experience:

Career Opportunity: Fashion Stylist

South Moon Under is searching for a talented Fashion Stylist with experience styling on-figure apparel (women’s and men’s) in a fast paced e-commerce photography studio environment. The stylist will be responsible for day-to-day e-commerce product styling, styling for weekly homepage/email blast promotions (including product laydowns) as well as outfitting creative fashion stories for all location advertising look book shoots.
The Fashion Stylist will be setting the visual standards to support the company’s merchandising strategies, and implement continual style improvements that will evolve the styling point of view for the women’s and men’s brands.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Style women’s and men’s on-figure shoots on a daily basis for the e-commerce department while maintaining positive energy in the studio at all times
Organizes the daily shoots by ensuring all products are properly logged in/out of the inventory tracking system and that all products are in the studio, steamed and pre-styled prior to each day’s shoot
Assists with dressing models, sizing clothes, coordinating accessories, hair and makeup
Maintains a substantial styling closet for clothing, jewelry, accessories, and shoes
Responsible for creative laydown / tabletop / still life styling when needed
Travels to/attends look book shoots and responsible for on-set styling, leading team of freelance stylists, and maintaining shot order/shoot schedule
Education and Qualifications:
Degree in fashion design, fashion merchandising, set design, and/or a related field. Relevant work experience in lieu of college degree will be considered
2+ years of relevant experience, specifically in catalog/e-commerce, styling merchandise on models, creating laydowns, demonstrated by a strong portfolio that demonstrates expertise in applied styling techniques for both on and off-figure photography
Proven, exceptional talent for understanding fashion, creating new style directions, and being able to making those ideas a reality on set
A superb eye for style, visual composition and attention to detail
An instinctual devotion to trends and emerging brands, with an insider's perspective on the apparel market
Familiarity with the intensity of a high-production studio, yet able to uphold the highest quality standards within that pressured environment
